Cardiac biomarkers and arterial stiffening: data from the Gutenberg Health study
2013
Influence of training and a maximal exercise test in analytical variability of muscular, hepatic, and cardiovascular biochemical variables.
2014
Short, middle, and long-term exercise, as well as the relative intensity of the physical effort, may influence a broad array of laboratory results, and it is thereby of pivotal importance to appropriately differentiate the 'physiologic' from the 'pathological' effects of exercise. Therefore, the values of some biomarkers in physically active subjects may be cautiously interpreted since the results may fall outside the conventional reference ranges. It has been demonstrated that middle and long-term endurance and/or strenuous exercise triggers transient elevations of muscular and cardiac biomarkers. However, no data have been published about the effect of short-term maximal exercise test on …
Electrochemical nano-immunosensing of effective cardiac biomarkers for acute myocardial infarction
2013
Abstract This review provides an overview of the various types of electrochemical immunosensors that have been developed for determination of cardiac biomarkers, along with significant advances over the last several years in related technologies. We also summarize the latest developments in the applications of electrochemical immunosensors in ultrasensitive detection of electroactive cardiac biomarkers.
Comparison of Right Ventricular Longitudinal Strain Imaging, Tricuspid Annular Plane Systolic Excursion, and Cardiac Biomarkers for Early Diagnosis o…
2010
Objectives: The aim was to determine the role of assessing right ventricular (RV) function, using standard echocardiography and Doppler myocardial imaging (DMI), in the early diagnosis of cardiac amyloidosis (CA) and in prediction of mortality. Methods: A total of 249 patients with AL amyloidosis were categorized on the basis of left ventricular thickness and E' velocity, and compared to 38 age- and sex-matched controls. Standard echocardiographic parameters of RV function were assessed, and longitudinal systolic myocardial velocity, strain rate (sSR), and strain (sS) were determined for the basal and middle RV free wall segments. Patients were followed for the endpoint of mortality. Result…
Optical immunosensing of effective cardiac biomarkers on acute myocardial infarction
2013
Abstract This review describes: • the advantages of examples of optical methods used in immunosensing of cardiac biomarkers and their reported applications, stressing their potential for future developments; • evaluation of some progress toward viable cardiac-biomarker measurements for detection and diagnostics of myocardial infarction; and, • trends in the development of optical immunosensors, including integrated immunosensors, and the application of nanotechnology and microfluidic technology.
State of the Art-High-Sensitivity Troponins in Acute Coronary Syndromes.
2020
In cases of suspected acute coronary syndrome (ACS), rapid and accurate diagnosis is essential to establish effective evidence-based medical treatment. Patients' history, clinical examination, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and cardiac biomarkers are cornerstones in initial management. Since high-sensitivity cardiac troponins were established, they have markedly expedited and revolutionized rule-in and rule-out pathways of patients with ACS and changed our everyday clinical practice. Thus, they have become an indispensable tool in daily routine in emergency units. This review focuses on historical and contemporary standards in laboratory biomarkers of myocardial injury and discusses their impli…
